Overview:

An acrylic NFC menu (also called an NFC table sign or NFC menu board) is an attractive physical display made from acrylic that contains an embedded NFC (Near Field Communication) tag. When a guest taps their NFC-enabled smartphone to the sign, the phone instantly opens a URL, menu, order page, payment page, video, or other digital content — no app download required for most modern phones. It combines premium tactile branding (acrylic with UV print/engraving) with the convenience and hygiene of contactless digital experiences.

Why choose an acrylic NFC menu?

  • Premium look & feel: Clear or frosted acrylic looks upscale on tables and counters.

  • Contactless & fast: Guests simply tap — great for hygiene and faster turns.

  • Dynamic content: Link the tag to an online menu that you can update anytime.

  • Brandable: Full-color UV printing, engraving, logo cut-outs, and custom shapes.

  • Durable & easy to clean: Acrylic holds up to spills and frequent cleaning.

  • Analytics-ready: Track taps and conversions when using redirect/analytics services.

How it works — simple flow

  • You program the NFC tag with a URL (can be a direct link or a short redirect).

  • Embed the programmed tag into the acrylic sign during manufacturing (sealed).

  • Guest taps their NFC-enabled phone to the sign → the phone opens the URL.

  • Content loads (menu, ordering widget, video, survey, payment page).

  • You update content on your server — no need to reflash the physical tag if you use a redirect or a campaign link.

Best practice: Use a dynamic redirect (a short URL / redirect service or an NFC CMS) so you can change the destination page any time without touching the physical tags.

Customization options

  • Single- or double-sided printing (UV), edge glow (LED-ready cutout), rounded corners.

  • Variable data printing: table numbers, seat numbers, or QR+NFC unique links per sign for table-level analytics.

  • Packaging options: bulk boxed, individual gift box, or tabletop display kits.

  • Optional lamination or anti-glare coating for high-light environments.

FAQ
Can I change the menu after the tag is printed?
Yes — if the tag points to a dynamic URL (recommended). Update the online content and the tag will continue to point visitors to the updated page. If the tag stores a static URL and is locked, you would need to replace the physical tag to change the embedded URL.
What NFC chip should I choose (NTAG213/215/216)?
If you only store a short URL, NTAG213 is usually sufficient and cost-effective. Choose NTAG215/216 if you need extra on-tag data or more complex payloads. Most deployments use NTAG213 + redirect.
Can the NFC tag be cloned or compromised?
NFC tags have unique IDs (UIDs) and can be read by phones, but basic tags are not encrypted. For higher security, use a backend verification mechanism (server checks UID + token) or choose secure tag types. Never store sensitive personal data on the tag itself.
What if a guest’s phone won’t open the link?
Provide a printed QR code and short instructions (“Tap or scan to open menu”). Also ensure your landing page supports both desktop and mobile.
How long do these signs last?
Acrylic signs are durable; with normal indoor use and cleaning with mild detergent, expect multiple years of service. The NFC chip embedded inside is passive and typically has a long shelf life (years). Avoid exposure to extreme heat or heavy impact.
Are these waterproof?
Acrylic is water-resistant and easy to wipe. Tags that are fully embedded/sealed inside the acrylic are protected from spills. For outdoor use, request outdoor-rated sealing and UV-stable printing.
